A Thanksgiving getaway finds Anastasia and her family confronted with deadly secrets.
After the conclusion of yet another murder investigation, reluctant amateur sleuth Anastasia Pollack Barnes and husband Zack Barnes need an escape. With Alex and his girlfriend Sophie Lambert about to arrive home for Thanksgiving, the two families decide on a skiing vacation. They book a stay at a Gilded Age mansion turned boutique ski lodge that was once both a stop on the Underground Railroad and the location of a Prohibition era bootlegging and smuggling operation.
At dinner the night they arrive, one of the guests unexpectedly announces the property is also connected to a decades-old unsolved disappearance. He makes accusations of a double-murder and coverup. Although the current owner doesn’t believe him, she worries adverse publicity could destroy the lodge.
When an overnight snowfall turns into a blizzard, everyone is snowed in the next day. Given the history of the lodge and unable to spend the day skiing, the teens are itching to explore the property in search of hidden tunnels and secret passages. The opportunity arises when the lodge owner learns of Anastasia’s sleuthing exploits and pleads with her to find evidence to disprove the allegations made the previous night.
The deeper Anastasia digs, the more she uncovers, giving credence to the conspiracy theory. When both she and the accuser are attacked and one of the guests dies suddenly, the race is on to find whoever doesn’t want the truth exposed. However, with too many suspects and unable to rely on law enforcement, Anastasia needs to unmask a killer before he strikes again.
